This aims to be a collection of articles and notes aimed at more advanced players.
First, read up on Item Set Collections if you haven’t already. If you have, you should already know a couple key facts:
- As you unlock more pieces of a set, the Transmute cost to Reconstruct the items from that set decreases.
- No matter how much the item cost to Reconstruct, you will always get 25 Transmute Crystals back when you Deconstruct it.
- The minimum Transmute cost for Reconstructing an item is 25 Transmute Crystals.
- Mythic items cannot be Deconstructed.
With this in mind, use the Transmute Station to Reconstruct items from an item set that you have completed – that is, a set that only costs 25 Transmute Crystals to Reconstruct. I use Arena bows – specifically the Blackrose Bow (“Virulent Shot”) for this purpose, but any piece of your choice from any set that costs 25 Transmute Crystals to Reconstruct will do!
Reconstruct however many items it takes to store the number of Transmute Crystals you intend to store. For example, if you want to store 500 Transmute Crystals, Reconstruct 20 items. Not Mythic items! Remember, above, where I said they can’t be Deconstructed!
Once Reconstructed, store the items wherever you choose. I prefer to use 60-slot Storage Chests, because you can achieve a storage density of 1,500 Transmute Crystals per 60 slot chest, and I don’t need to swap characters to dig in to my stash of Transmute Crystals. Storage characters are also perfectly valid, as is your Bank.

Not sure where to put this but this was part of my discussion for my Stats class in grad school. I haven’t seen anyone lay out the math but it could be useful to someone.
Hypothesis
Null Hypothesis
The drop probability of the light helmet and light shoulder in the Wraps of the Depths set matches the expected rate.
Probability
Helmet
Helmets drop at the end of each dungeon and can be done as many times a day as you’d like. They take about 30 minutes to complete, and you have a 100% chance to drop a helmet however, this can be Light, Medium, or Heavy.
Shoulder
Shoulder pieces are much more complicated. Every day you can get up to 4 keys. Keys are used to obtain crates containing shoulder pieces with two options.
Option 1 is to buy a crate with 1 key that has a 1 in 12 chance of being the right set however, we have an extra variable of weight. So, getting the right set and weight is actually a 1 in 36 chance.
Option 2 is to buy a special crate for 5 keys that only drops two specific sets. However, weight is still a factor, so these crates have a 1 in 6 chance of dropping the required piece.
Stat Procedure
Helmet
Drop Rate: 1/3 = 33.3% Estimated Number of Dungeon Runs: 1/33.3% = 3 Runs Time Per Run: 30min Estimated Time: 30 x 3 = 90 Minutes
Shoulder Option 1
Drop Rate: 1/36 = 2.8% Crates Per Day: 4 Odds Per Day: 4 x 2.8% = 11.1% Estimated Number of Days: 1/11.1% = 9 Days
Shoulder Option 2
Drop Rate: 1/6 = 16.7% Crates Per Day: 4/5 Odds Per Day: 4/5 x 16.7% = 13.4% Estimated Number of Days: 1/13.4% = 7.5 Days
Conclusion
It seems saving up to buy the 5-key crates is the better option, however only slightly. If you need to complete other sets, its probably better to buy 1-key crates. We should expect it to take 90 minutes to acquire the preferred helmet and 7-8 days to complete the set.
